One of the foundational supports of Specialized or Energy Kinesiology is based upon Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). I rely on these tools every day consequently am continually suprised to find that they are still somewhat controversial.

Does Acupuncture Work?

In addition to the volumes of research now available on acupuncture, its recognition by the National Institute of Health (NIH) as a legitimate healing modality and the pretty obvious fact that millions of people wouldn't lay there letting someone stick needles in them if it didn't work, I offer these tidbits.

  • I was recently in London and traveled a little in the south of England, and was suprised and pretty excited to see an Acupuncturist / Herbal / Reflexology STORE on every high street (main street). This was the case even on Oxford St. which must have some of the highest rents in the world. Many high streets had a few of these stores, and the business model was something like "drop in and we will fix you while you wait". A lot of these stores were major investments and it was pretty obvious that here was a successful business model that was being copied and experimented with. And this was in a country with free medical care. To my thinking this may be the best proof of the validity of these techniques.

  • The Austrian / Italian mummy "Otzi the Iceman"* that was found frozen high up in the Alps was aware of acupoints. He has been dated to about 5000 years before present and was remarkably well preserved when discovered. Apparently he suffered from arthritis of his rt ankle joint which was seen on XRays, and tattooed on his skin were the proper acupoint positions for treating this disorder. This points to Acupuncture pre-dating the Chinese record and to a possible non asian origination of the techniques.
